Language of Love Part 11

“You know, there will be one person or a moment that changes everyone's life. I know this is quite filmy but yeah, she was that for me.

I'm someone who isn't that much interested in feeding irrelevant and outdated information into my brain. So I mainly slept or dreamt in most of the classes in school"

“Oh…so it’s school romance” she laughed

“Yep.” I gave her a small smile and continued “But there was this yoga class in our school. It was the only class I loved being in and I bunked many other classes to attend them. Sir always explained many Hindu rituals and stories. I was so keen to know about other religions and their customs, which made me his favorite student. So when there was this interschool yoga camp, he suggested my name and I was all ready to go as I can skip school and still get attendance being somewhere I can hear stories.

"I have read almost every story of most religions"

“Me too…I understood that everything is somewhat connected and was so confused to believe”

“I ended up believing that there is a power and rest are just stories…iyssh…back to the topic. So that's where you two met!”

"Yeah. In our free time, everyone gathered around in groups to talk. One day, as I sat along a group discussing new movies, its action sequence, and all, I heard a loud laugh and looked around to see a small group and in its center the owner of the sound. That was her."

Shahana was so interested to know where this is going and that was quite visible on her face. I felt like she is trying to imagine all those scenes.

"She continued to laugh and talk with her friends like nothing else in this world mattered to her. Something about her was attracting me and I couldn't figure out what it was. Sometimes it's like that. You won't know what you are feeling but you know something is making your heart beat faster.”

“Did you talk to her?”

“Yah right, I went straight into that group and introduced myself.”

“Really!!

I laughed at the fact that she could even imagine such a thing and she understood I was mocking her.

“Come on yaar, this story is very boring”

“Ok. I will stop”

“You were waiting for me to say that right. No way. Continue.”

“Okey…Somehow I passed 10th and joined Plus Two. Within in few days, I was selected for a state-wide yoga meet. Unlike last time, I had a companion to go with"

“Was that her!!”

"No. That was a fellow friend from a different branch. We went together to the school from where the bus to the camp was scheduled. There was a tourist bus and a mini-bus. The bus was already filled, so we got into the mini-bus and we were off to Alappuzha."

“So you met her there.”

"Yeah. She got into the mini-bus from the bypass road and I was really surprised."

“Wait… so you understood it’s her in a glance!!”

“Not really. I got a feeling that I know this person and without much effort, her laugh came into my mind.”

“Oh… so love at first sight hah”

"No, not like that. She was quite active at the camp and like many others, I was really impressed by the way she talks and approaches people and there was something really special about her smile."

“So you talked to her?”

“Yah. On the last day morning of camp.”

“So now usual love story right. Hello, Hi, friends, relationship…”

"Nope. I proposed to her"

“What!!!”

“Yep”

"So the first impression you made was 'Yah I'm mad'"

“Maybe. She was surprised as I expected and said I don’t even know your name, this is the first time that we talk, we barely know each other and you love me!!”

“Now that’s as I expected. So what did you say then?”

"I said, 'I'm not sure whether fate will give me a third chance and felt like I should confess how I feel. I don't want to regret that I didn't do anything' "

“Then?”

"As her friends called her, she left without another word. The camp was over by evening. As we got on the bus, we noticed each other and exchanged a smile. She sat with her friends in the front row and I sat in the middle with mine. Both of us had good company, everyone was in a celebratory mood and as I was dancing with my friends, she walked towards me and implied with her eyebrows that she wants to talk.

The first thing she asked as we settled into a seat was my name”

“She was confused like me right”

"Yep. She gave me a 'you have a strange name' look and after that, we talked for a while"

“And…”

"The usual. Exchanged numbers, talked, and became close. She inspired me and pushed me to use my full potential. She was far from me in distance but was close to my heart. I started socializing more, and the me that you say is missing now was once there only because of her influence."

She was nodding interestingly but with a sorry face as she knew tragedy is on its way.

“Everything was perfect. But I always doubted that I wasn’t enough for her. She was extraordinary, had a great perspective on life, and believed that she deserved a great future. She always said she is damn sure that I will be successful one day"

“So in a nutshell, she was great. So then why?”

I could sense the tone of sarcasm in her voice. I deserved that.
