Language of love [P3]

We enquired at the bus stop about schedules and found out that there was no bus to my nearest location but there was one to Thrissur. The problem is that there will be no bus to my hometown until morning and it's only 11pm. I made her realize all these and she was ok with all that. I felt that she is not in a state to think about anything. It was clear that she was out of her mind and wished to be home somehow.

“Shall we eat something before we board?” I asked her

“No I am ok” she replied finding a spot to sit. Maybe she is not a foody. Actually, I was quite relieved to hear that because I didn’t have enough money to buy two meals. I went to the nearby shop and bought a small biscuit packet and a bottle of water. I looked at her as I paid cash. She was staring at me, with doubtful eyes. I came back to where we were sitting and offered her the biscuit. She didn’t take one and was still staring at me. I realized that she didn't trust me yet and it was ok because no one can be trusted these days. I smiled and took one for myself and offered the biscuit again. This time she picked one.

“That's not going to be enough for you” I smiled and asked her to pick some more with my eyes.

She picked some more and asked me "What’s your name?"

I smiled because I knew what will be her reaction after I say my name

“Shinlay Shinas”

“What!!” she asked with a curious smile that made her eyes shrink in question.

“Shinlay Shinas” I pronounced it a bit more clearly. I knew it was hard for people to believe that I had such a unique name and as expected she found it hard too. But there was curiosity in her eyes wanting to know more.

“Shinlay Shinas. Right?”

I nodded with a smile

“So what is its meaning?”

“That’s for you to find” I smiled at her.

“Hey come on” she pleaded to me and grabbed another biscuit from the packet in a friendly gesture.

“What’s Your Name?” I had to change the topic because even I didn’t know as I haven’t asked anyone or tried to find out what’s the real meaning of my name.

“Shahana” she said her name with a smile. Her eyes glittered as she smiled.

She is trying to hide every emotion with that smile, but her eyes couldn’t play along. There is something in her smile that can attract anyone.

"You know, eyes can't lie and right now your misery is pretty much visible". I told her with an unpleasant smile.

Suddenly she became numb and her face wasn’t the same anymore. I saw clearly that it was going from a white cloud to the darkest one. Her eyes were filled with tears. She wanted to forget all that and my curiosity spoiled everything. I hated myself for that stupidity. I looked at her face and was speechless seeing her tears.

“No one can be trusted these days” she mumbled that much in a low voice.

After that, silence filled the gap between us. I wanted to ask many things but was afraid of the consequences. What if she cries again?

“Why you are carrying this many bags”

Maybe silence was hurting her more.

"I usually travel like this with my camera and laptop as my job requires all these. I'm on my way back home from a cinema set."

She raised her eyebrows in acknowledging me for what I’m with her eyes wide open. I just loved that look.

"Actually, I don't watch movies much" Those words did hit me hard in the heart.

“Ohh” I replied trying to hide what I felt.

"I'm more of a book person. In my opinion, it's better to imagine everything myself than to watch someone else's imagination"

“So what’s your favorite book!!”

She looked at my eyes in contempt and asked me

“What’s your favorite movie?”

I smiled at her and replied

“Okay…I get it”

I could feel that she was getting more comfortable with me.

She was laughing at everything as if it will take away all her problems.

Before we could get to know each other more, a bus to Kozhikode arrived. I saw the bus and said her to take her bags amidst conversation gathering my bags. She looked at me in confusion and I raised my eyebrows in the direction of the bus in answer with a smile on my lips. She understood what I meant and followed me to the bus.

I asked the conductor about the route plan and was actually relieved to hear that the bus was going via Thriprayar which was only 5 kilometers from my home.

I looked at her in a “shall we?” expression and she replied

“Let’s go why are you waiting” hearing the whole conversation.
